Mika Brzezinski, MSNBC News Live anchor, on a segment this morning entitled, “Potter Character Outed: Outing of Dumbledore leaves Harry Potter fans scratching their heads.”

Some of Mika’s comments:

“It was the news that rocked Harry Potter fans. Hogwarts’ Head Master Dumbledore is gay, apparently. Author J.K. Rowling made the stunning announcement on Friday that left many Potter fans wondering why they didn’t know, or, maybe why they had to know. But now that parents, ah, have to deal with this, they may be wondering how they should explain this to their children.”

Why they had to know?” “parents, ah, have to deal with this”? Really?

Brezenski had a quick dialogue with Neil Bernstein, a clinical psychologist who gave good advice, and, hopefully, booked a session for Mika, later in the day.

“I’m not sure why we have to deal with this, but apparently we do, because a lot of our children read this book and they’re going to hear this news, um, your child comes home, and says, you know, ”Timmy told me that Dumbledore is gay.“ How do you start explaining something like this, to children?

Again, why we have to deal with this“?

And,

”It does seem a little young, though, to be bringing up the issue, um, I mean, these are sexual issues, obviously.“

”these are sexual issues, obviously.“ Actually, no, they’re diversity issues.

Obviously, Mika has some issues of her own.
