Madonna at The Garden

Took advantage of a last-minute opportunity to see Madonna at Madison Square Garden last night. I already have tickets to see her on July 18th, but it was nice to see her New York opening night.

The show was sold-out. She didn’t even start until after 9:00 PM (was an 8:00 show.) Non-plussed is the right word. We were less than thrilled. She was good. She is in incredibly great shape. Her dancers are phenonemal. And, she likes it hot. Real hot. The temperature had to be around 85 - 90 degrees. No exaggeration. My calves were sweating. Really.

In all fairness, I was hoping to see a show similar to her previous ones: very theatrical, the innumerable Madonna personalities, over-the-top themes. What we got was the Madonna who was, perhaps, her true self. Which is how she has been talking about this tour. She got back to pure dance, music, and she had a tremendous amount of fun. (I would have, too, if I could have stopped sweating.)

I won’t say more - don’t want to give anything else away.

I still would see it again. As a matter of fact, I will, in July. But, I’ll be wearing shorts.
