iPhone, Wii, Ditherati, MacBook Pro, iTunes, and A Roller Coaster.
The Week In Technology
Don’t think that Apple’s iPhone is the only prize Manhattanites are standing in line for. Nintendo’s Wii, the Sony Playstation killer, has folks lining up to buy the often-sold-out gaming console. Why? One reason might be the purported weight loss potential. Which begs the question: How long will the lines for the iPhone last?
Almost ten years to the day it started, the give-them-just-enough-rope-to-hang-themselves, techno-elite blog that offers you “a quote a day from the world of new media, and our take thereon,” Ditherati, is back! “Well, that was a lovely nap” Owen Thomas wrote, waking up after an absence of several years. The new site is WordPress’s “white as milk” theme, which is disappointing without Terry Colon’s illustrations. Oddly, there is no Wikipedia page for ditherati or Owen Thomas. No doubt, if Wikipedia knows what’s happening before it happens, they’ll be a ditherati entry soon.
If you’re like me, and have a brand new Apple MacBook Pro (with Intel’s Santa Rosa chipsets!) you’ll want to know that Apple just released a MacBook Pro software update AND iTunes 7.3. “With iTunes 7.3, you can now activate iPhone service and sync it with your music, TV shows, movies and more. Also, you can now wirelessly share and enjoy your favorite digital photos from any computer in your home with Apple TV.”
Lastly, The Cyclone, Coney Island’s roller coaster, turned 80 this week. Happy Birthday.
