“I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God.”
“I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution. But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. That’s what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than to try to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family.”
So spoke candidate for President of the United States of America, Mike Huckabee, in Michigan on Monday, revealing what is in his heart. He continued:
“The reason we have so much government is because we have so much broken humanity,” he said. “And the reason we have so much broken humanity is because sin reigns in the hearts and lives of human beings instead of the Savior.”
Does this scare you? It should. This is what you get for propelling a born-again Southern Baptist Evangelical Minister to the top tier of the Republican Presidential candidates list. A self-proclaimed “religious leader,” Huckabee has said,
Impossible, indeed. Which is why someone who believes it impossible to separate his faith, his calling, from his political aspirations, cannot, constitutionally, become president of a country whose charter is hard-wired with the concept of separation of church and state. That concept is what created this country in the first place. It’s why the Pilgrims came to America. It is the very foundation of our democracy. And yet, there is a man who has no qualms with wanting to lead this country as though it were a church, his own ministry.
Scout Finch at DailyKos sums Huckabee’s thoughts:
“There you have it. Mike Huckabee’s grand plan to save America is to save us all…..one by one.”
Saving Americans sounds nice, until you look at what that would mean. A National religion? Probably. A requirement to teach “intelligent design” instead of Evolution? Probably. An outlawing of any religion other than Christianity? Probably. A six-day work-week? (It’s in the Bible.) Probably. No work on Sundays? (It’s in the Bible.) Probably.
